Hip preservation

Hip preservation surgery is used to relieve hip pain by reshaping the natural joint or by repairing or replacing damaged tissues. These procedures can be used instead of total hip replacements, offering another solution for hip dysplasia or arthritis.

We treat adult and pediatric hip disorders, offering options such as hip preservation surgery to help you resume the activities you love as fully as possible.

Hip preservation surgery

We specialize in hip procedures. These are techniques that prevent hip replacement surgery later in life. Most of our methods are minimally invasive procedures that can be in an outpatient setting. Patients usually return to their activities fully in four to six months.

  • Hip arthroscopy — This minimally invasive procedure uses robot-assisted methods to complete labral tear repairs including rebuilding cartilage or reshaping the joint.
  • Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) — This minimally invasive procedure reshapes or reconstructs the socket side of the hip without replacing the joint. The procedure corrects severely deformed hip sockets and moves bones into proper alignment for better joint function.
