Doctors urge artificial sweeteners reconsideration: Study links A-fib to diet soda

A new study shows drinking beverages with artificial sweeteners could significantly increase the risk of a serious heart condition called atrial fibrillation, or A-fib.

Dr. Christopher Porterfield is a cardiac electrophysiologist at The Medical Center of Aurora. He says the study is the first to show an association between artificially sweetened drinks like diet sodas and A-fib.
