Our 24-hour emergency care

We offer full-service ERs, many of which have designated, state-designated trauma centers if you have serious traumatic injuries.

Level I and II Trauma Centers

We provide access to Level I and Level II Trauma Centers where our board-certified emergency physicians, physician assistants and nurses are specially trained in advanced life-support and emergency treatment. We work in partnership with paramedics and first responders to ensure you receive seamless care.

Our trauma centers are fully equipped to handle any life-threatening trauma condition or injury. Our specially trained trauma teams are standing by 24/7 to ensure you receive the high-quality treatment you need to heal.

In addition to providing trauma care, we promote injury prevention and community education on safety.

Pediatric-friendly emergency services

If your little one needs advanced emergency care, we offer pediatric emergency services at our HealthONE emergency rooms across metro Denver.

For the most advanced ER care, our Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (RMHC) offers 24/7 care for your child in dedicated pediatric settings. Your child will be evaluated and treated by our expert pediatric nurses and doctors to ensure they receive the treatment they deserve.

Freestanding emergency rooms (FSERs)

In order to best serve our communities, our care network offers FSERs throughout Greater Denver. Our FSERs provide 24/7 care just like traditional, hospital-based emergency departments. For example, our FSERs feature comprehensive laboratories and state-of-the-art imaging capabilities to address all your medical emergency needs. This means we are equipped to handle medical emergencies ranging from illnesses and injuries to life-threatening conditions.

Stroke care from the region's leaders

Our hospitals create a network of neurological care that connects the region’s leading stroke experts, enabling our emergency departments to provide care with a strong focus on starting treatment as fast as possible. Additionally, our neurology departments offer acute stroke care and rehabilitation, helping you more than any other health system in Colorado.

Emergency medical transport services

When a hospital transfer is needed, our air and ground transport service, AirLife Denver is there. They provide critical care transportation for both adult and pediatric patients. This ensures you arrive at your destination quickly and safely to receive the emergency treatment you need.

Urgent care services

Our CareNow® urgent care services complement and support our emergency department. Figuring out whether you or a loved one needs emergency care or urgent care may not be easy, especially if symptoms appear serious.

Urgent care centers typically provide treatment for commonplace sicknesses and injuries, such as flu symptoms and ankle sprains. Most urgent care clinics, however, are not able to treat some of the more serious conditions listed above.

ER wait times

We are committed to better serving your healthcare needs and helping you find quick access to high-quality emergency medical care. To do this, we publicly post our average ER wait times — including the wait time for our separate pediatric ER — to help you make the most informed decision on where to seek care.

ER wait times are approximate and provided for informational purposes only. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911.

The ER wait time represents the time it takes to see a qualified medical professional, defined as a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).

ER wait times represent a four-hour rolling average updated every 30 minutes, and is defined as the time of patient arrival until the time the patient is greeted by a qualified medical professional. Patients are triaged at arrival and are then seen by a qualified medical professional in priority order based on their presenting complaint and reason for visit.
