Utilizing the Western Institutional
Review Board (WIRB)

A Principal Investigator (PI) may choose to submit a study for IRB review and approval to either the HCA-HealthONE IRB or WIRB for a research study conducted within a HCA-HealthONE facility. If an investigator chooses to utilize the services of the Western Institutional Review Board (WIRB), the HCA-HealthONE IRB will be notified by e-mail of all approval and changes to protocols that are conducted in a HCA-HealthONE facility.

There is no charge assessed from the HCA-HealthONE IRB for studies reviewed by WIRB. The PI and research team members are to communicate directly with WIRB and submit all study-related documents and payments directly to WIRB,

Researchers are reminded to retain a copy of all correspondence with the HCA-HealthONE IRB and/or WIRB in their study files.

HCA-HealthONE IRB staff members have been granted access to the WIRB database in order to track all research activities that have been approved by WIRB and are conducted at a HCA-HealthONE facility. The IRB staff members serve as WIRB Administrators and are notified via e-mail of all protocol activities that involve HCA-HealthONE.
