What Does This Measure?
The percentage of patients 65 years and older who were screened for and/or vaccinated to prevent pneumonia.
Why Is This Important?
The pneumococcal vaccine can lower the risk of complications for pneumonia and prevent future cases. Patients who already have pneumonia should be given the vaccine if they have not been vaccinated recently.
