Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital Named 2011’s Best!

Aurora hospital recognized as one of nation’s best by Rehab Management magazine

Denver, CO (Oct. 31, 2011)HealthONE‟s Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital announced yesterday that it has been chosen as one of the nation‟s „Best of 2011 Rehab Facilities‟ by Rehab Management magazine, the interdisciplinary journal of rehabilitation. The award celebration kicked off with Sunday‟s Denver B-Cycle & Denver Broncos Orange Ride, a city-wide bike ride led by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Spalding Rehabilitation CEO Cindy Kreutz to promote healthy habits including bike safety. Spalding is a proud partner of Denver Bike Sharing and Denver B-cycle promoting bike safety and helmet use to avoid brain or neurological injury.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of the „Best of 2011 Rehab Facilities,‟ said Cindy Kreutz, CEO of Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital. “Rehabilitation is about compensating for deficits, adapting to a new way of life and restoring function to help patients return to the most functional life possible. These principles guide Spalding‟s vision to be the premier hospital for all physical rehabilitation needs and we are grateful to be recognized for this hard work by Rehab Management.”

Treating patients from across the Rocky Mountain region, Spalding specializes in brain injury, movement disorders, neurological conditions, and stroke and amputee rehabilitation. The hospital‟s Commission on Accreditation of Rehab Facilities (CARF) certified Brain Injury Program provides a unique controlled stimulation environment and specially trained treatment team to assist brain injury patients through a speedy recovery and return to the community.

In addition to specialized care, the „Best‟ distinction reflects the dedication of the Spalding staff. Compassion, anticipation of needs, respect, empathy, and service are the pillars of the Spalding C.A.R.E.S philosophy and guides daily care with each patient. “The Spalding staff is phenomenal; they really care about the patients,‟ said a recent patient at the hospital. “My therapists inspired me and I keep them updated on how well I‟m doing.”

Spalding‟s dedication to the mission of Rebuilding Lives and Renewing Hope continues after over 40 years in the Denver metro community. The Aurora hospital was established in 1914 as a home for impoverished women and children and since evolved to become the first licensed Rehab hospital in Colorado in 1968.

Rehab Management launched an annual program, Rehab management‟s Best of Rehab Facilities, to spotlight the nation‟s top rehab care providers. Facilities across the continent were nominated for this program, which included a profile submitted by each facility that explained what makes them exceptional among their communities and peers.
