Colitiscope: Looking Ahead at 2012 Take Steps Walk

Rocky Mountain Chapter of Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation partners with HealthONE hospitals to reach new goals

DENVER, CO ( December 14, 2011) – The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCFA) announced today a partnership with HealthONE hospitals to host the 2012 Take Steps Walk in Denver, CO, the largest fundraiser for Crohn’s and colitis disease research and community education. The Take Steps Walk, presented by HealthONE, will move to a new venue in 2012 at City Park to accommodate the tremendous growth from 300 to 2,000 participants over the last four years. HealthONE and CCFA will team up to reach new goals for the event, which includes a $225,000 event goal while surpassing last year’s record total of 151 registered teams.

“We are proud to partner with HealthONE, Denver’s largest healthcare network,” said Kristin Walker, Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of CCFA. “They [HealthONE] have a strong long-standing reputation for supporting nonprofit organizations that enrich communities and strengthen families throughout the Rocky Mountain region and we look forward to working with HealthONE to develop a partnership that enhances the event for all of our participants.”

Take Steps will be Saturday, June 16 from 4-7 pm at City Park. CCFA welcomes an anticipated 2,000 in attendance to create awareness and generate funds for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of CCFA.

”HealthONE is proud to sponsor this event showing our support for Crohn’s and colitis research, education, and support of those with these chronic illnesses, said Leslie Horna, Director of Corporate Communications & Community Affairs at HealthONE. “Many of our patients, physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers are touched by Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis and the Take Steps Walk is a great way for people to show their passion for the cause and we are happy to join CCFA in the fight to find a cure.”

This year’s event will expand in 2012 to include:

• Family festival with a team village,
• Activities for young people,
• Food options,
• Educational presentations,
• Vendor booths and medical information

Interested participants can join HealthONE and CCFA in the Take Steps Walk today by registering either as a team captain or walker and be part of the largest fundraising event for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. All registered walkers are provided a free customizable webpage for fundraising support, fundraising advice and assistance, and web banners for social networking sites like Facebook. Walk Day is a celebration of the participant’s hard work and dedication to help raise funds for CCFA, while providing a fun, family friendly environment for all in attendance. Everyone is welcome to attend and begin fundraising today to help find a cure.
