Attorney General Suthers on HealthONE Sale

Statement from HealthONE The Colorado Health Foundation’s sale of assets in HealthONE to its partner, HCA

“I am confident that the hospital system as well as the Colorado Health Foundation will continue to be viable and highly beneficial community assets.” – Attorney General John Suthers

From Jeff Dorsey, President & CEO

“HealthONE would like to thank Attorney General Suthers and his staff for their careful review of the transaction and conducting two hearings to ensure public input.

The transaction will not – in any way – change the most important focus of HealthONE nurses, employees and physicians at our hospitals and outpatient centers: to continue leading the Rocky Mountain Region in improving access to high-quality patient care.

The Attorney General has made recommendations regarding the contributions we make to our communities and providing care to the uninsured and under-insured.  We are happy to provide additional assurances to the public that our commitment to support our communities won’t change.”

The sale of The Colorado Health Foundation’s equity stake of HealthONE to HCA will not change day-to-day operations of our hospitals and centers. HealthONE has always been committed to serving our patients and communities – and that will never change.

We provided $98 million last year in unpaid medical costs (not charges) to treat the indigent, uninsured and under-insured. Overall, HealthONE invests more than $190 million per year in community benefits, including community health education; health professional education; research; charitable contributions; and community-building activities beyond our campuses. That amount has risen year-to-year since we formed almost 16 years ago.

The transaction will not affect the high quality, compassionate care we provide to our patients and your families. HealthONE continues to expect the very best service from its employees and staff on behalf of patients.

Our employees and leadership remain part of the HealthONE family, just as they are today. This transaction will not impact jobs nor make other significant changes in our day-to-day work lives. It also will not affect our expectations for the highest caliber care we give our patients. We will continue to work under our name, HealthONE.

The agreement is pending review by the state Attorney General. The Colorado Health Foundation and HCA anticipate a final agreement will be reached before the end of the year.
