TriCare Health Coverage
HealthONE has long participated in many programs with the military and is a long-standing participant in TriCare for military families. Each year our metro Denver hospitals, ERs and outpatient centers treat 10,000 TriCare members.
Other Programs Serving Our Military
In addition to being a long participant in TriCare as previously noted, HealthONE is fully committed to working with our military veterans, active duty, Colorado National Guard and military academies and schools. We do this already in several areas:
Swedish Medical Center currently partners with the Army in hosting a surgical residency program that hosts military personnel. Swedish neuropsych physicians also work with the military and Craig Rehabilitation Hospital (not a HealthONE entity) in a specialized traumatic brain injury program - increasingly one of the biggest long-term issues among our military in war zones.
Similarly, HealthONE’s Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital operates a Controlled Stimulation Unit – specially certified by CARF – for Traumatic Brain Injury patients and is ideally suited to take more military patients suffering TBI. We offer a continuum of care for Brain Injury from our inpatient rehabilitation through our Day Rehabilitation Program and our outpatient services. The Day Rehab Program is unique in that it offers all therapy services needed to treat a brain injury patient in one location working together as a team to achieve the best outcome for the patient. Our clinical teams have special training in treating symptoms as a result of brain injury in all three settings. We specialize in cognitive rehab as well for the higher level concussion patients.
Colorado Limb Consultants at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s has a collaborative relationship with Ft. Carson for military who suffer limb injuries, amputations and other problems. The limb preservation specialists have consulted with medical staff on base as well as been referred cold trauma cases for revisions, non union, infection of joints, and soft tissue issues. On the education side, Fort Carson physicians and medical professionals have actively participated in our specialized education conferences which we hold for the medical community.
Spalding also is expert in Amputee Rehabilitation from inpatient to outpatient prosthetic gait training. With our relationship at P/SL with the Limb Consultants program, we see many amputees requiring rehabilitation to regain function post surgery. We also have therapists in our outpatient department that specialize in prosthetic gait training with exceptional outcomes.
Currently, The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) provides formal medical direction for Buckley Air Force Base EMS teams. The TMCA EMS staff provides education on a monthly basis for Buckley personnel. The Buckley providers participate in TMCA’s monthly EMS Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) conferences; TMCA’s EMS medical directors provide oversight for Buckley’s Performance Improvement (PI) programs; and TMCA is the sole provider for Buckley’s online medical direction.
